Revell is the latest addition to our slot car stable. Initially offering cars of an American flavour, the recently introduced Lightweight Jaguar E Type has been hugely popular here in the UK. Also to be available by the end of 2005 is a classic Mark I Lotus Cortina, and not surprisingly advance orders for this model have been staggering.
Revell first started producing slot cars in the 1960's but gave up as the 70's dawned and the popularity of slot car racing waned, and none of the old models survive to be in the latest range. They have tended to steer away from the mainstream of prototypes offering highly detailed sports racing cars of the 60's such as the pretty little Cobra Daytona Coupe and the racing versions of the Corvette Stingray and Shelby Mustang. Also in the range is the 1950’s Porsche Spyder and versions of the diminutive NSU TT, which are currently being raced in classic saloon car events in Germany (Revell have their European headquarters based there).
Another unusual model recently introduced is the March 83G which raced in the GTP sports prototype series in the USA and is finished in some attractive liveries, the most striking being the limited edition ‘Red Lobster’ from 1984. Also there is the fabulous range of pit figures in period US clothing, a must for anyone modelling Riverside, Sebring and the like. All in all a nice range of models that run well out of the box and a bit different from anything else currently available.
