Little known in the UK, Piko have been around since 1949. Starting out as a state owned toy manufacturer based in Sonneberg, Piko first found success with a range of toy cars before moving over to model railway production with locomotives, rolling stock and building kits for HO scale and buildings for N and G Scales.
After German reunification in 1992, Piko became a private enterprise, and shortly afterwards began producing G scale kits for garden railway enthusiasts. These kits are outstandingly popular, particularly in the U.S.
