Long known for their models in OO Scale, in recent years Dapol have introduced a good quality N Scale range featuring locomotives and rolling stock in British outline.

Their OO Scale range, whilst not presently featuring locomotives, still contains a large and varied selection of wagons. And their is the range of kits featuring locos and rolling stock, buildings and accessories.

Dapol N Scale M7 Locomotive With a good variety of N Scale models, Dapol have positioned themselved as one of the major UK Locomotive manufacturers. With both modern image diesels and Grouping-Era steam, there is something for everyone, and those looking for more than one of a particular model will be pleased to note that they often manufacturer a number of alternative running numbers in each livery.

DAPOL WARRANTY ANNOUNCEMENT

Dapol has recently announced that Class 73 locomotives will not be covered under warranty if the model has not been oiled:

"To date we have probably experienced no more than 100 units returned but out of that small number the vast majority have been because of problems with the Drive Shafts and, more specifically, the breaking of one of the two lugs from one end of the Drive Shaft which connects into the gear or flywheel assembly."

"...it has become clear that there is ONE identical factor involved with every Drive Shaft Problem. The faulty models returned to us have all had bone-dry gearboxes, i.e they have never been oiled."

"We have conducted more tests and find that the grease used at manufacture to protect the gear assembly, solidifies with use and, if oil is not applied, the gear assembly jams, resulting in breakage of the Drive Shaft lugs."

Dapol further state that any future returns found not to have been oiled will not be covered under warranty, and that repairs to such models will be chargeable.
